Using sitters and photographs, Jim focuses mainly on portrait painting in pastels or acrylics, although he does work in a wider spectrum. He seeks out the latent character that lies behind the face of his sitters, bringing hidden emotions to the surface. His rendering breathes life into his portraits, seeming often to reverse the roles of viewer and subject. Jim is a retired teacher, married with grown up children, who now lives and works in Wiltshire. He is a member of and exhibits with The Guild of Wiltshire Artists, The Cricklade Art Group, Hook Artists and The Artzeit Group.
